Frequently asked questions

Physiotherapy is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of physical injuries and movement problems.

Chiropractic care is an alternative health care practice that treats bodily disorders by manipulation of the spine and other joints. Massage Therapy is the mobilization of the soft tissues of the body by applying fixed or moveable pressure to the muscles and connective tissues. Physiotherapy involves treatment of the spinal column, joints, connective tissue and everything in between! Physiotherapists study the physiology and interaction of all of the body systems including the brain, heart, lungs, nervous tissue, circulatory pathways, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and more. A physiotherapist will develop a custom treatment plan for you which may include mobilization or manipulation of the spine, peripheral joints, and soft tissues as well as other methods to reduce pain and inflammation and promote healing, including custom exercise programs involving stretching, strengthening and stabilizing the body structures to promote health to the body as a whole.

Physiotherapy is a very active process – you will do more than lie on a table! You must be ready to learn about your body and how your posture and daily activities affect your health as well as be ready to take an active role in healing yourself and preventing further injury. You will be given an exercise program to work on at home between your in-clinic sessions. If you are looking for a treatment that will provide you with lasting positive changes and are ready to take an active role in your recovery, physiotherapy may be for you.
